Academic Materials Fees (AMF) – General Information

Academic Materials Fees (AMF) are mandatory course and major fees charged only in exceptional situations and are assessed to enrolled students by the centralized student billing system.

  1. Major fees became effective fall 2003.
  2. Course fees became effective spring 2005 (spring so that they could be billed through PeopleSoft)
  3. Three (3) existing accounts were used because the fees existed prior to implementing the AMF:
  4. The Fine Arts Film fee existed prior to AMF; the fee was collected informally. The same was true for the School of Social Work student malpractice insurance fee (BOT approved 3/2004).
  5. AMF fee requests are collected during the Budget Hearing process in January of even years. This coincides with the University’s biennium budget request to the State. The AMF will be considered off-cycle, as appropriate.
  6. Follow the Provost’s website ‘Useful Links’ section to ‘Academic Materials Fees’.
